THE DAY IN POLITICS / (eu) eu/united states/iraq

25/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - The United States and Europe "have turned the page on divisions over Iraq, and are prepared to forge a new, stronger consensus for the future of their partnership", said the American Secretary of State Colin Powell and the EU's High Representative for CFSP, Javier Solana, in an article published by the Financial Times on Friday. The EU/United States Summit to take place in Ireland this Saturday will be an opportunity to "celebrate the strength, depth and importance of the partnership between America and Europe", they said. "Our rich European-American agenda reflects the dynamism of a partnership based not only on economic power, but also on sharing democratic values, values which can be found in the new EU Constitution".
