Loan in favour of small and medium sized investments in Hungary (environment, energy, local infrastructures)

Luxembourg, 23/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Investment Bank (EIB) has granted a global loan of EUR 30 million to K&h Bank to finance small and medium sized projects in Hungary. The loan will allow the funding of projects generally carried out by private and public promoters in the fields of protection of the environment, energy saving, infrastructures (including health and education facilities) industry, services or tourism. Long term resources lent by the EIB will cover up to 50% of the total cost of the individual projects. K&H Bank and the final beneficiaries will benefit with this loan from the Municipal Infrastructure and Municipal Finance Facilities. These schemes are subsidised by EU grants under the Phare Programme and provide incentives to the final borrowers - mainly municipalities - as well as to K&H Bank to encourage lending in the municipal sector. The Municipal Infrastructure Facility is focused on investments of municipalities in the area of environment, transport, health and education in the Nyugat-Dunantul border region. The Municipal Finance Facility promotes building, upgrading or refurbishing of small municipal infrastructure in the entire territory of Hungary.
