European Parliament for minimum harmonisation of legislation on consumer credit

Strasbourg, 21/04/2004 (Agence Europe) - In its adoption on Tuesday of the report by Joachim Wuermeling (CDU) on the proposed directive aiming to create a framework for consumer credit within the Union, the European Parliament largely went along with its legal committee and accepted the challenge of wrapping up its first reading before the end of the legislative period, on this highly controversial text (see EUROPE of 19 March, p.12).
