07/04/2004 (Agence Europe) - On 5 April in Dublin during a biannual meeting of a delegation of MEPs and members of the US Congress, the president of the European Council Bertie Ahern reaffirmed the Irish presidency of the EU's priority allocated to the Trans-Atlantic partnership. The Irish prime minister repeated that the Irish presidency was working to reassert the strength, deepness and meaning of this relationship and that they would be focusing on pragmatic co-operation that covered a whole range of foreign, economic and trade policy issues. While admitting that the EU and the USA did not always agree, he insisted that they had to stress what they could achieve together rather than what they could not do and that they were obliged to inform their citizens that they were working closely together in important areas for them and the international community.
