Brussels, 19/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - The EP Committee on Energy decided on Wednesday to modify the legal basis of the draft Directive aiming to guarantee safe gas supply in the EU. Contrary to its February decision (by a very narrow majority) the EP committee accepted the proposal by the Committee on Energy of 15 December 2003 to change the legal basis of the proposal from Article 95 (co-decision) to Article 100 (the Council decides alone, with possible consultation of the Parliament).
