Brussels, 18/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Group on Ethics (EGE) chaired by the Swedish philosopher, Göran Hermeren, finally gave a long awaited opinion on 16 March on the ethical aspects of umbilical cord blood banking. It encourages the development of non-profit making activities necessary for treating patients and calls on women to be informed of the futility of the "services" proposed by commercial bloodbanks.
