Brussels, 12/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - As part of his travels in the future EU Member States to meet representatives of organised civil society and governments, the President of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), Roger Briesch, and EESC Secretary General, Patrick Venturini, will be in Lithuania on 16/17 March and Latvia on 17/18 March. In Vilnius, they will be meeting prime minister Algirdas Mykolas Brazauskas, labour and social security minister Vilija Blinkeviciute, foreign minister Antanas Valionis, under-secretary of state for finance, Lina Adakauskiené and the President of the Lithuanian parliament Arturas Paulauskas. In Riga, they will meet foreign minister and future European Commissioner Sandra Kalniete, labour and social integration minister Niels Muiznieks, economics minister Juris Lujans, finance minister Oskars Spurdzins, the President of the parliament's European affairs committee Guntars Krasts, and also Liene Liepina and Pauls Kjavins, the last three being former Convention Members.
