10/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - Under pressure from the recent warnings of the European Parliament and the Commission which criticise the unsatisfactory situation of the legal system in Romania, Prime Minister Adrian Nastase dismissed his justice minister, Rodica Stanoiu on Monday, replacing her by Christian Dianconescu, the current deputy foreign minister. Mr Nastase also announced greater powers attributed to the Ministers of the Economy, Dan Ioan Popescu, and of Internal Affairs, Ioan Rus, who become State Ministers, as well as the arrival in government of the presidential advisor on internal security, Ioan Talpes, responsible for coordinating reform of justice and integration in the EU and NATO. "This reshuffling aims to speed up negotiations with the EU and give impetus to reform of the judiciary system", Mr Nastase said during a press conference.
