03/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European United Left/Nordic Green Left, presided by Francis Wurtz, will be organising, in a backdrop to the European Parliament plenary, a hearing on "Water" - For a European Public Debate" on 9 March in Strasbourg. Participants will include Danielle Mitterrand, Mario Soares, Riccardo Petrella et Alex Zanotelli. A press statement indicated that the European Parliament is expected to assert that, water, "as something commonly owned by humanity, must be able to escape the liberalisation policy, preached by the Commission", that water resources had to be managed by a "European public service" and a "new world contract" was needed for "global water management".
