Brussels, 03/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - Must the World Bank (WB) still finance projects in the extracting industries of developing countries? Do projects financed by the Bank in these countries in the oil, gas and mining sectors help to achieve the aim of combating poverty through sustainable development? Emil Salim, former Indonesian Environment Minister at the head of a group entrusted with the task of examining the role of the WB in this connection (the Extractive Industries Review, EIR)...
