Brussels, 02/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the European Commission approved further aid of EUR 8 million in favour of elections in Afghanistan. A press release states that this aid is intended for the voter registration plan managed by the UN and for which the European Union is the first donor. This brings the Commission's contribution to the organisation of these elections to the sum of EUR 15 million whereas the total amount of Union aid, counting that of Member States, currently reaches EUR 30 million, the press release states, stressing how important it is to hold elections in Afghanistan after the adoption of the new Afghan Constitution in January this year.
