Brussels, 01/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - On 26 February, at the initiative of Jens-Peter Bonde, President of the Group of a Europe of Democracies and Diversities at the European Parliament, decision-makers from around fifteen countries presented a campaign for holding a referendum on the European Constitution in all 25 member States of the enlarged European Union. Explaining the initiative, Mr Bonde said the campaign has already begun in the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Greece and Poland. In a press release, Mr Bonde said that, so far, a referendum is planned in Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic. During the launch of the campaign, many participants reported that campaigns for national referenda are well on their way in countries such as Hungary, Austria, the Netherlands, Slovakia and France.
