Luxembourg, 01/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has criticised Greece which it feels is failing to respect the 1995 directive (modified in 1991) on waste. The Commission takes as its basis the most recent inventory- from December 2002- which says that 1458 dumps in Greece are working illegally and subject to no controls. These dumps, it is said, process the waste of 47% of the population.
