Brussels, 09/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - Heads of State and Government and leaders from over 90 parties in the EU, Latin America, African and Asia will meet on 12 and 13 February in Madrid for the Leaders' Meeting of the Centrist Democrat International.
Among those taking part will be José Maria Aznar (Spain), José Manuel Durao Barroso (Portugal), Mikulas Dzurinda (Slovakia), Juhan Parts (Estonia), Edward Fenech Adami (Malta), Viktor Orban (Hungary), Ibrahim Rugova (Kosovo), Kjell Magne Bondevik (Norway), Enrique Bolanos (Nicaragua), Marcelino Miyares (Cuba), and Maayouya Ould (Mauritania). EPP President Wilfried Martens will also attend, as will Mariano Rajoy, candidate to take over from Prime Minister Aznar.
The Executive Committee will approve "Global Action Guidelines: Freedom and Security", which will stress international co-operation in security matters, and the fight against terrorism.
