Anna Diamantopoulou announces specific directive to fight against discrimination suffered by disabled

Brussels, 17/12/2003 (Agence Europe) - At the closure of the European Year of People with Disabilities on 7 December in Rome, commissioner Anna Diamantopoulou, announced that "there will be a Disability Specific Directive…to effectively tackle discrimination against disabled people". The president of the European Disability Forum (EDF) Yannis Vardakastanis said that his affirmation is "welcome", especially after the daily combat led by his organisation.
