Brussels, 16/12/2003 (Agence Europe) - Last Tuesday, Erkkii Liikanen and Michel Barnier, Information and Regional Policy Commissioners, met industry, regional and Member State representatives in the context of an "eEurope Workshop on local and regional broadband initiatives". The meeting was devoted to the initiatives at local and regional levels for extending the reach of broadband in remote and rural areas where market forces alone are not yet sufficient to support its roll out.
