Brussels, 25/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - In the context of the Joint Commission meeting last Friday in Brussels, the European Union and Vietnam expanded their dialogue to include subjects such as governance and human rights for which a new sub group, created that day, will be responsible. The meeting chaired by Nguyen Bich Dat, the Minister in charge of planning and investment and Hervé Jouanjean, Deputy Director General for External Relations at the European Commission, focused on bilateral cooperation (notably the cooperation programme implemented on the textile agreement, initialled on 15 February and provisionally applied since 1 September) and regional issues (ASEM summit of 2004, modernisation of relations between the EU and ASEAN).
