Brussels, 14/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - Other than a new recommendation to Germany for excessive deficit, a draft Directive aiming to facilitate cross-border mergers (EUROPE of 14 November, pp. 7 and 8) and the reform of the olive oil, cotton and tobacco markets (pp. 8 and 9), the European Commission should approve, on Tuesday in Strasburg, a strategy concerning competitiveness. This strategy, based on increased integration of the various EU policies, aims to enable it to better respond to the challenges it has faced over recent years and in particular to provide an suitable answer to the danger of a decline in traditional industries. Finally, the College will examine an assessment report on the progress achieved in Bosnia in view of the opening of negotiations for an association agreement with the EU.
