Mr Cohn-Bendit pleased that IGC is getting nowhere - last Summit "ridiculously useless"

Strasbourg, 21/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - "The less progress it makes, the more certain we can be that it is stuck on square one, i.e. the Convention's draft", said the chairman of the Greens/FTA group, Daniel Cohn-Bendit, referring to the Intergovernmental Conference at a press conference in Strasbourg. He called the last meeting of the European Council a "ridiculously useless Summit", and wondered how President Berlusconi would manage to discuss it on Wednesday before the European Parliament.

(The German Green elected in France also criticised the awarding of the Sakharov Prize to the UN on Thursday. He describes this choice as "ridiculous", adding that the purpose of this Prize is to reward "individuals taking risks" not "employees doing their job".)
