Brussels, 20/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - A European Union troika, headed by Margherita Boniver, Italian under-Secretary of State for European Affairs, is currently in Kabul above all to discuss the reconstruction process in Afghanistan within the framework of the Bonn agreements of December 2001. The visit by the troika - which includes participation from the representatives for Ireland (as the future EU Council Presidency), the European Commission and the EU Council Secretariat - will also provide an opportunity for tackling the matter of security in the country, the constitutional and electoral process with a view to the next presidential elections and also issues relating to multilateral cooperation.
