Giscard d'Estaing repeats there is no alternative to draft Constitution - Spain and Poland should be realistic and moderate

Brussels, 07/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - In answer to questions put to him by the radio France Inter, the former Chairman of the European Convention, Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, said: "I am optimistic as there is no alternative and because Europeans are waiting for Europe to happen". While considering that it is normal for there to be clashes within the Intergovernmental Conference, he recalled that Poland has not signed the Treaty of Nice and added: "we must be realistic and moderate".
