A return to the reference to Christianity on 14 October

Brussels, 07/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - The results of the first ministerial meeting of the Intergovernmental Conference - abolition of the legislative Council and a return to the Seville formula for the number of sector-specific formations - had considerably lightened the agenda of the meeting to be held on 14 October in Luxembourg after the General Affairs and External Relations Council. Ministers, however, are expected to continue their discussions on the convoluted shapes of presidential teams of variable geometry. They will also be called upon to once more discuss the tricky issue of introducing a reference to Christianity in the preamble to the draft Constitution. This was announced by Franco Frattini, Council President. "The issue will be tackled next week, but we shall not be opening Pandora's box", the Foreign Minister said on Monday during a hearing at the Italian Senate.
