Brussels, 24/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - The group that will advise the European Commission on research in security matters will meet for the first time on 6 and 7 October in Brussels. In addition to Commissioners Philippe Busquin, the main initiator of the group, and Erkki Liikanen, the group will be composed of four MEPs: German Christian Democrat Karl von Wogau, British Labour member Eryl McNally, Christian Rvosin (EPP-ED, Denmark); and Dutch Liberal Elly Ploij-van Gorsel. Industry will be represented by Rainer Hertrich (EADS), Mike Turner (BAE Systems), Denis Ranque (Thales), Pier Francesco Guarguaglini (Finnmeccanica), Eric Loewenadler (Ericcson), Javier Monzon (Indra), and Claus Weyrich (Siemens). There will also be former Swedish Prime Minister, Carl Bildt, former Commissioner Sutherland and François Heisbourg for the Strategic Research Foundation.
