Strasbourg, 03/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - During a press conference on Wednesday in Strasbourg, Italian Vice Prime Minister, Gianfranco Fini, announced that the Italian Presidency intended, "in November", to arrange a Special Summit for Heads of State and Governments, which would examine the work of the IGC and the draft European constitution. The IGC is expected to begin on 4 October in Rome. There will also be two other European Councils, as well as this summit, programmed for Brussels on 16-17 October and 12-13 December.
The Italian Presidency also intends to hold "at least three informal meetings" for Foreign Affairs Ministers to examine the progress of the IGC's work (without counting the three other General Affairs Councils that have already been planned on 13-14 October, 17-18 November and 8-9 December)
