02/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - French Green Marie Anne Isler Béguin expressed her indignation during the opening on the EP plenary in Strasbourg at a French government ruling categorising the transport of nuclear waste as "defence secret". "This means that from now on it is against the law in France to inform the population and MPs as to the routes taken by nuclear waste transportation", she protested, insisting: this runs counter to the resolution on the transportation of radioactive material voted by the European Parliament in February 2001, and which "legitimately asked that" MPS and local authorities be informed about the passage of trains containing radioactive waste.
