- China: A United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) report notes that China is becoming the part of the world that attracts the most foreign investment. The United States still tops the league, with $1351 bn fdi between 1980 and 2002, but China is catching up with total foreign investment of $448 bn in 2002 compared with a mere $25 bn in 1990.
