Commissioner Verheugen says no special measures will be needed for Hungary when it joins the EU

Brussels, 01/08/2003 (Agence Europe) - Enlargement Commissioner Günter Verheugen says he is confident that Hungary will quickly be able to resolve its remaining problems with the implementation of all EU acquis by 1 May 2004, and special safety measures will therefore not be needed following accession. The threat of introducing special safety measures (such as temporarily restricting the free circulation of goods and individuals from new Member States that are unable to apply EU legislation...
