01/08/2003 (Agence Europe) - German Transport Minister; Manfred Stolpe has indicated that the new "heavy goods" toll would open on 31 August but that the tax would not be imposed till 2 November. He said that by that date, 450,000 computers needed for applying this measure would be available (see EUROPE 26 July p 10 on the subject of this investigation of the Commission on aid that Germany envisaged for compensating for the imposition of this new tax).
