Brussels, 09/07/2003 (Agence Europe) - In a communiqué, Enrique Baron, President of the Socialist group and the German Social Democrat, Martin Schulz, who Silvio Berlusconi had compared to a German concentration camp guard, "a kapo), said that they were "satisfied" with the regrets expressed by the President of the European Council to the President of the European Parliament Pat Cox for his remarks (see EUROPE yesterday p 5). MEPs hope that "such an unacceptable situation will not occur again" and welcomed the fact that inter-institutional relations between the Parliament and Council could go back to normal. They thanked President Cox for his efforts to settle "this regrettable incident".
