Agreement for complete removal of all cross border electricity charges

Brussels, 09/07/2003 (Agence Europe) - Following the agreement concluded on Wednesday in Rome at the tenth meeting of the Florence European Electricity Regulatory Forum, all cross border electricity charges will not be subject to additional network charges as from 1 January 2004. There will still be charges for access to the electricity network but the 0.5 € MW/h network access charge on electricity exports currently applied by Member States will no longer be applied. They will be treated as national transactions and charged in the same way. The Florence Forum created in 1998 and convenes twice a year bringing together national electricity regulators and responsible ministries, transmission system operators, industry and consumers.
