12/06/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Council has formally adopted its resolution concerning the horizontal aspects of culture entitled "Increasing synergies with other sectors and Community actions and exchanging of good practices in relation to social and economic dimensions of culture" (see EUROPE of 3 May, p;11). With this resolution, the Council invites the Commission to present a communication by the end of the year on the cultural dimension of EU structural funds during the period 1994-1999. It also expects that the Commission will publish its third report on economic and social cohesion, that it will proceed to mid-term assessment of structural funds and that it will reflect, in 2004, on the ways to strengthen the contribution made by culture to economic and social cohesion.
