EU launches "Artemis", its second peace-keeping operation, in order to make the town of Bunia, in DRC, safe

Brussels, 05/06/2003 (Agence Europe) - The EU Council of Ministers formally gave its go-ahead, on Thursday, to "Artemis", the second European peace-keeping operation (after "Concordia" in FYROM). The aim of the operation is to make the town of Bunia secure, in the Congolese province of Ituri (Democratic Republic of Congo - DRC), a region torn apart for weeks by serious clashes between the ethnic Hema and Lendu populations, stirred up by Rwanda and Uganda.
