05/06/2003 (Agence Europe) - In reaction to the contradictory declarations from Germany, the European Commission declared on Thursday that it had no reason to believe that the German government would not follow the recommendation of the Ecofin Council on 21 January, requesting the country to bring its nominal deficit down to the 3% threshold for GDP in 2004 at the latest.
