Mr Giscard d'Estaing refuses debate before Convention and proposes meeting with President Prodi in Stuttgart

Brussels, 14/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - Valéry Giscard d'Estaing lost no time in replying to Romano Prodi, who proposed holding their debate before the plenary session of the European Convention (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.4). The Convention President refuses to take part in a debate "at which the Convention will be a spectator", and has suggested to the European Commission President that they hold their duel in Stuttgart, at the invitation of the Minister-President of the Land of...
