14/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - After the noisy resignation by Clare Short, who criticised Tony Blair for his authoritarianism (considering that the Labour Party should organise an "elegant succession" for Mr Blair) and the United Kingdom's support for a plan in post-war Iraq which marginalises the United Nations, the post of British International Development Minister has been given to Lady Amos. Valerie Amos thus becomes the first black woman to enter a British government.
