Brussels, 14/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - East Timor is the 79th member of the ACP (Africa/Caribbean/Pacific) group. The ACP Council of Ministers, which met in Brussels to prepare for the ACP/EU Council of 15 and 16 May, formally welcomed the country into the group. East Timor is also a candidate for membership of the Cotonou Agreement, linking the Union to 77 ACP countries. Cuba and East Timor are the only ACP countries not yet part of the agreement.
