07/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and the Foro Consultivo Economico-Social (Economic and Social Consultative Forum) of Mercosur met on 5 and 6 May in Brussels. On this occasion, the EESC president, Roger Briesch, met Emilio Gimenez Franco (Ambassador for Paraguay), Dupla del Moral (member of the team of EU/Mercosur negotiators at the European Commission) and Pedro Marset (Vice-president of the European Parliament Delegation for South America and Mercosur). A public hearing on follow-up to the EU/Mercosur negotiations, mainly on the social dimension of the association agreement as well as on agriculture and sustainable development, was held on 5 May. On 6 May, a joint working meeting of the EESC follow-up committee discussed how the project on "the socio-professional dimension of Mercosur" was developing.
