Brussels, 05/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - Philip Lowe, Director General for Competition at the European Commission, has stated that discussions were to continue with Microsoft as there is still concern about the affair, the Reuters agency reports. "As long as we have outstanding concerns, we will pursue the case", Mr Lowe said, adding that no date had yet been set for a decision. Nearly three years ago, the Commission opened an investigation against the American giant suspected of having conceived its Windows system so that it was not easily compatible with competitive servers. Furthermore, it fears that the software, Media Player, automatically integrated into Windows, puts rival products at a disadvantage. Microsoft, for its part, has pointed out that it has cooperated as effectively as possible with Commission services. Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO, said they were working very constructively with the EU and hope to reach a decision that is acceptable for both parties.
