Brussels, 31/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - According to the El País edition published on 30 March, the security services for the EU Council of Ministers and the Commission reached the conclusion that the telephone tapping devices discovered in the offices of five Member States (Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Spain and Austria) 'benefited' the Israeli secret services (see EUROPE of 20 March, p.5 and of 21 March, p. 7). The Spanish daily adds that official sources from the two institutions assert having verified that conversations by members of the delegations where recorded in an office close to the Council building.
