28/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - The request that the UN Commission on Human Rights should hold a special session on military intervention in Iraq was rejected in Geneva by 18 to 25. It had been presented by ten countries including Russia. The US, Canada, the EU and Japan voted against. High Commissioner for Human Rights Sergio Vieia de Mello pointed out that the Commission on Human Rights will soon receive the report of an UN inquiry on human rights in Iraq.
