British aid to foster capital investment in poorest developing countries is cleared

Brussels, 10/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised the United Kingdom to grant the company CDC the status of "investment firm" for an initial 20-year period. The Commission states it is exceptional for fiscal aid to be approved for such a long period, all the more as the measure does not meet the conditions set out in the Companies Act. CDC Group is the main instrument of the British government for investing in the creation and long-term growth of viable businesses...
