05/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - Belgian Finance Minister Didier Reynders said, on Tuesday, that the European Central Bank (ECB) had a margin of manoeuvre (regarding monetary policy) but no margin as far as budgetary policy is concerned. "France, Italy and Germany need a deficit reduction programme", he said, before going on to add that avoiding a war in Iraq would be "the best solution, not only from the budgetary point of view, but also for the economy in general".
