Brussels, 05/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - Commissioner Chris Patten and Moroccan Finance Minister Fathallah Oualalou signed, on 4 March, an EU/Morocco financing agreement with a view to developing vocational training in three sectors that would generate jobs in the Kingdom of Morocco: tourism, textiles and the new information and communication technologies. The project for improving the level of qualified labour, running for six years, has a total budget of EUR 65 million, of which 50 million are financed by the EU. The scheme has two dimensions: - an economic dimension (demand for skills) aimed at identifying the needs in skills; and - a "training" dimension (supply of skills) aimed at increasing the ability and quality of the supply of public and private vocational training, in relation to the requirements of companies identified in the economic dimension.
