Brussels, 20/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - In context for preparations for its report on fundamental rights in the European Union, Fodé Sylla (GUE, France) will be organising a public hearing on 24 April in the presence of NGOs, professional associations, journalists and national politicians. The public hearing will focus on the following subjects: the fight against racism, prisons, freedom of expression and the traffic in human beings. The report will be voted on, at the request of Mr Sylla, in September. The report will provide a low-down on fundamental rights situation in Member States and candidate countries.
