Brussels, 20/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the president of the EPP-ED group at the European Parliament, Hans-Gert Pöttering, and British Conservative Edward McMillan-Scott met representatives from the de la Arab League and the Palestinian Authority in Brussels, as well as Ambassadors from Saudi Arabia to the EU (who were behind the initiative for holding the meeting), Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Kuwait. The two parties asserted in a press statement issued by the EPP-ED, that an agreement on Iraq was needed, as well as the re-launching of the peace process between the Palestinians and Israel and preventing a "shock of civilisations".
