Twelve willing to coordinate action in event of prolonged rise in oil prices - Divergence overcome on degree of flexibility of Stability Pact and concerns about growth

Brussels, 18/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - As Spain in particular had requested (supported, it would seem, by France and Germany at least in principle), the Economy and Finance Ministers of the euro-zone Member States have decided to coordinate their action "as far as possible" to react to any prolonged rise in oil prices, it was declared on Monday evening by Greek Finance Minister Nikos Christodoulakis after the Eurogroup meeting of which he is chairman.
