Brussels, 10/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Council has formally adopted the "Motor-oil" directive aimed at the gradual introduction of sulphur-free fuel in the Union so as to generalise the compulsory sale for all vehicles by 2009. Sulphur-free fuel refers to fuel whose content will be reduced to 10mg/kg (10ppm) against the current 50ppm.
This formal decision, without debate, follows the conciliation agreement between Parliament and the Council (see EUROPE of 14 December, p.9).
