Brussels, 10/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - The social partners of the European sugar industry (the CEFS, the Comité Européen des Fabricants de Sucre, and EFFAT, the European Federation of Trade Unions of Food, Agriculture and Tourism") signed a joint code of conduct on 7 February setting minimum standards on corporate social responsibility in eight areas: human rights, education and training, health and safety, the relationship between social partners, fair pay, working conditions, restructuring, and business relations and choice of suppliers. Regular update and follow-up of the code of conduct will be reported upon each year by the European Committee for Social Dialogue. The first report will be submitted in February 2004.
