Brussels, 06/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission intends to renew the Daphne programme in the fight against violence against women. It will provide it with EUR 41 million for 2004-2008. Like the current programme, which receives EUR 20 million for 2002-2003, Daphne II will finance the setting up of a network and information exchange between organisations involved in the fight against violence against women, as well as raising the issue among the public. The Commission presented the proposal on Wednesday. In November it produced its proposals for projects to be funded in 2003 by the Daphne I programme. In April it published an assessment report (EUROPE 13 April).
