03/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - Last week, the President of the European Parliament, Pat Cox and members of the Partido Popular, Inigo Mendez de Vigo and Gerardo Galeote, presented "Pasion de Europa", a two-volume anthology of the main speeches made by Jose Maria Gil-Robles, also member of the Partido popular, when, from 1997 to 1999, he was President of the European Parliament. On that occasion, Gil-Robles announced that he would not be standing in the June 2004 European elections. As for Cox and Mendez de Vigo, according to a press release, they underpinned that the merit of the former President of the European Parliament was of always having striven for European integration and the strengthening of European institutions "with pragmatism and beyond rifts".
